LAWTON – The 911 Association of Central Oklahoma Governments, which oversees emergency communication services in central Oklahoma, has selected the 911 solutions provider NGA 911 to deploy a Next Generation Core Services and Emergency Service Internet Protocol Network, NGA 911 said in a news release.

The technology will create a more resilient 911 system to serve 911 AGOG’s 49 cities in four counties and 20 emergency call centers.

Under the contract, NGA 911 will implement a secure, cloud-based National Emergency Number Association i3-compliant Next Generation 911 system. The new system will replace older technology, eliminate network downtime and satisfy public safety grade network requirements, according to the news release. When the project is complete, 911 ACOG will have a fully i3-compliant 911 network.

“Ensuring the safety of central Oklahomans is vital to 911 ACOG’s mission,” said ACOG’s executive director, Mark W. Sweeney. “Partnering with NGA 911 to implement NG911 across our region will safeguard those in need and make certain they can be located and reached quickly in an emergency.”

The NG 911 system will enhance communication with the public to include capabilities such as Text to 911 and Real-Time Text and provide more accurate call routing. The new 911 system will also provide emergency call centers with one-click control adjustment of service boundaries to handle planned or unplanned events and unexpected call volumes.
