Religious services have not escaped the repercussions of the fast-spreading coronavirus pandemic. The Crossroads Baptist Church in Elgin is suspending its regular in-person services for the next two weeks, according to its pastor.

“We canceled services for the next two weeks, like President Trump asked,” said church pastor Curtis Erwin, referring to Sunday, March 22 and 29, and Wednesday night services. However, people will still have the opportunity to worship during the service suspension.

“We will live-stream our Sunday morning services,” he said. The church’s Praise Team will perform musical selections, and then Pastor Erwin will lead the worship service and deliver his sermon. Many members of the congregation “have Facebook, but we also will have it live-streamed on YouTube and on our church app,” Er- win said.

The Sunday service can be viewed on:

• The church’s website at CrossroadsElgin.com

• Facebook at https:// www.facebook.com/pages/ Crossroads-Baptist-Church/ 142643169109614.

• The church’s app, which is available under “Crossroads Elgin.”

Meanwhile, the pastor is meeting with the church deacons regularly to “assess our situation.” Average attendance on Sunday is 325, “and we generally have 200 kids on Wednesday night,” Erwin said.
