Shortly after graduating from Oklahoma State University, Lawton native Mark Scott began his career with Arvest Bank. Along the way, he earned an MBA from Cameron University.

With a flexible work schedule, Scott is able to use his financial knowledge and management skills to help others around the community — something he is passionate about. “Leadership is an important thing to me, and I’m proud that I can do my part for the community,” he said.

As president of Family Promise of Lawton, he looks for ways to help the homeless families get reestablished. The organization “is not a single project, but an ongoing mission of helping to provide shelter and case management for homeless families in our area,” he explained.

Scott serves as an executive committee member and is chair-elect for the Armed Services YMCA board and sits on the advisory board for Salvation Army. He is a strong advocate for the Boys and Girls Club, a youth fitness and mentorship programs undertaken by the Salvation Army.

He is also a member of the Lawton Chapter of AMBUCS, an organization that builds wheelchair ramps and donates specially designed trikes to those with mobility issues and provides several scholarships to physical therapists each year.

“Helping others and giving back to the community is important. I have the opportunity to do it and our community needs it,” said Scott. In the community’s business sector, Scott serves on the boards of the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce and the Lawton Economic Development Corporation and is one of the charter board members of Young Professionals of Lawton, an organization established to “develop the next generation of leadership for the Lawton-Fort Sill community.”

Scott is currently working with the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce in their efforts to create a healthy workforce for the area. An initiative to become a certified healthy business was also launched by Arvest Bank, relays Scott.
