Council renews Walters city manager’s contract

The Walters City Council recently renewed City Manager Shawn Strange’s contract and gave him a raise, according to the minutes from the board’s Dec. 1 meeting.

After discussing Strange’s contract in a closed-door session, the council voted 5-0 to extend the contract for another year and approve a $5,000 raise. The pay increase boosts Strange’s salary from $60,000 to $65,000 per year, but his retirement package will remain the same.

Strange has served as Walters’ city manager since 2016.
