OKLAHOMA CITY – Republican lawmakers in the Oklahoma Legislature re-elected the Senate Pro Tempore and the Speaker of the House for the 2021 legislative session. The positions were announced Tuesday, following a one- day organization meeting at the state Capitol.

The First Session of the 58th Legislature opens Monday, Feb. 1.

In the Oklahoma Senate, Oklahoma City Republican Senator Greg Treat was named as president pro tempore. This will be the third session for Treat to serve as pro tempore, the Senate’s top leadership position. Treat was nominated by Senate Majority Floor Leader Kim David, R-Porter. His nomination was seconded by Senate Minority Leader Kay Floyd, D-Oklahoma City.

In the House of Representatives, House Speaker Charles McCall, R-Atoka, was formally re-elected Tuesday by the full House to his third two-year term as speaker. McCall’s re-election makes him the longest-serving Republican House Speaker in Oklahoma history.

Speaker Pro Tempore Terry O’Donnell, R-Catoosa, was formally elected Tuesday by the full House to his first term as speaker pro tempore, the chamber’s second-ranking officer.
