From staff reports LAWTON – Cameron University has set up a patriotic display of 7,000 American flags to honor veterans.
On Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, the university will honor active-duty and retired members of the U.S. Armed Forces beginning with a complimentary meal from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Shepler Cafeteria.
At 1 p.m., the Comanche Battalion, Cameron’s award-winning Army ROTC unit, will post the colors at a ceremony in Veterans Grove on the north side of Howell Hall and directly south of Gore Boulevard.
Col. Reginald D. White, commander of the 434th Field Artillery Brigade, will speak about the importance of Veterans Day. White is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, the Field Artillery Captains Career Course, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the National War College.
The ceremony is open to the public and members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces are encouraged to attend.
