DUNCAN – Duncan is buying a $1.10 million fire truck for the Duncan Fire Department to replace an aging fire truck.
The Duncan City Council voted unanimously Sept. 10 to approve the purchase of a heavy-duty custom engine pumper from the Buy-Board National Purchasing Cooperative, a Texas-based organization that streamlines the purchasing process for local governments. The Ohio-based manufacturer Sutphen Corp. will build the new engine pumper, which will contain in one unit a water tank, hose compartment and major pump.
“This pumper will come fully loaded and complete with all gear, tools and equipment,” City Manager Chris Deal wrote in a Sept. 10 memo to the council. “It will replace our aging 2008 Eng. 4 with a n estimated front line service life of 15 years.”
City officials expect the new fire truck will be delivered within 38 months, for an estimated arrival time of November 2027, Deal said.
Duncan will finance the new equipment through a lease-purchase agreement with Leasing 2, a Florida-based company that specializes in providing lease financing to local government agencies.
The city’s agreement with Leasing 2 includes a $128,859.56 prepayment discount. The city will pay the remaining $975,423.79 over a seven- year period starting in September 2026, with an annual payment of about $178,492.52 and an interest rate of 5.18%.
Once all lease payments have been made, the city will own the fire truck without further costs.
