TULSA — Gov. Kevin Stitt was not the only elected Oklahoma official to announce a positive COVID-19 test Wednesday.

On Wednesday afternoon, Tulsa County Commissioner Karen Keith took to social media saying that she and her husband both tested positive after a road trip to an undisclosed location.

In her announcement, Keith said she thinks she and her husband were exposed during a stop at a convenience store in the Texas Panhandle where most patrons were not wearing masks.

“I have lost smell and taste,” she posted. “I have bursts of energy, followed by down time.

“We quarantined as soon as we got back. We will weather this...I just don’t want to expose anyone else.”

Keith has served on the Tulsa County Commission since 2008. Prior to that, she spent 21 years with the NBC affiliate in Tulsa as an anchor, reporter and executive producer.

She has also been a vocal advocate for a mask mandate in Tulsa, which as of Wednesday, has 1,112 active coronavirus cases.

A Tulsa City Council meeting to consider implementing a mask mandate was underway as of press time Wednesday evening.
