Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 1.02 inches for the week of July 12-18, with the northeast district recording the highest total at 1.97 inches.

Drought conditions were rated 10% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, up three points from the previous week, according to the July 13 U.S. Drought Monitor Report. Additionally, 1% of the state was in the moderate drought to exceptional drought category, unchanged from the previous week.

Statewide temperatures averaged in the high 70s. Topsoil and subsoil moisture conditions were rated mostly adequate to short.

Here’s a look at how crops fared for the week:

Small grains: Canola harvested reached 95%, and rye harvested reached 95%.

Oats harvested reached 70 percent, down six points from the previous year and 15 points from normal.

Row crops: Corn silk reached 47%, down five points from the previous year and 10 points from normal.

Sorghum headed reached 18%, down five points from the previous year and nine points from normal. Sorghum coloring reached 2%, down two points from the previous year and four points from normal.

Soybeans planted reached 95%. Soybeans emerged reached 85%, up six points from the previous year but unchanged from normal. Soybeans blooming reached 17%, down 16 points from the previous year and three points from normal.

Peanuts pegging reached 41%, unchanged from the previous year but down eight points from normal.

Cotton squaring reached 50%, up three points from the previous year but down five points from normal. Cotton setting bolls reached 10%, up one point from the previous year but down four points from normal.

Hay: The second cutting of alfalfa hay reached 91%, up six points from the previous year and three points from normal. The third cutting of alfalfa hay reached 25%, down 12 points from the previous year and 12 points from normal.

The first cutting of other hay reached 95%, up seven points from the previous year and two points from normal. The second cutting of other hay reached 20%, down three points from the previous year and nine points from normal.

Pasture and Livestock: Pasture and range condition was rated at 81% good to fair. Livestock condition was rated at 82% good to fair.
