Rainfall totals averaged 0.87 of an inch across Oklahoma for the week of June 7 through 13, with the southeast district recording the highest total at 2.25 inches.

Drought conditions were rated 15% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, down one point from the previous week, according to the June 8 U.S. Drought Monitor Report. Additionally, 6% of the state was in the moderate drought to exceptional drought category, unchanged from the previous week.

Statewide temperatures averaged in the high 70s.

Topsoil moisture conditions were rated mostly adequate to surplus, while soil and subsoil moisture conditions were rated adequate to short.

Here’s a look at how crops fared for the week of June 7-13:

Pasture and livestock: Pasture and range condition was rated at 87% good to fair. Livestock condition was rated at 89% good to fair.

Hay: The first cutting of alfalfa hay reached 82%, up four points from the previous year but down two points from normal. The first cutting of other hay reached 55%, down seven points from the previous year and six points from normal.

Row crops: Corn planted reached 91%, up two points from the previous year but down two points from normal. Corn emerged reached 78%, down four points from the previous year and eight points from normal.

Sorghum planted reached 40%, down 10 points from the previous year and 19 points from normal.

Soybeans planted reached 47%, down 27 points from the previous year and 18 points from normal.

Peanuts planted reached 78%, up 10 points from the previous year but down six points from normal. Peanuts pegging reached 1%, down two points from the previous year but unchanged from the previous year.

Cotton planted reached 60%, up five points from the previous year but down 13 points from normal.

Small grains: Winter wheat harvested reached 10%, down 27 points from the previous year and 31 points from normal.

Canola coloring reached 82%, up three points from the previous year but down 10 points from normal. Canola harvested reached 15%, down 19 points from the previous year and 35 points from normal. Rye harvested reached 12 percent, down 20 points from the previous year and 18 points from normal.

Oats jointing reached 95%, down four points from the previous year but unchanged from normal. Oats headed reached 86%, up 17 points from the previous year and four points from normal. —Staff reports
