LAWTON - The former publisher of The Lawton Constitution has been appointed vice president of the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce. “My initial focus will be sponsorship and advertising,” said Dennis Wade, “but those duties may expand over time.”

Wade and his wife, Norma, arrived in Lawton “a little over a year ago” and immediately embraced the city. “It’s a welcoming community, he said. “We both love it.” When the Chamber post available, Wade jumped at the opportunity.

“This is an amazing team,” he said. The Chamber previously had an executive vice president over human resources and administration, but Wade’s emphasis will be different because of his “skills, knowledge and abilities,” said Brenda Spencer-Ragland, president and chief executive officer of the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber.

"Wade provides 30-plus years of experience in telling the story about a community,” Spencer-Ragland said. “His expertise in marketing, advertising, and growing a community aligns well with what we’re doing to promote tourism and economic development in Lawton, and Southwest Oklahoma as somewhere to tour, to relocate and to live,” she said.

The Lawton Fort Sill Chamber has approximately 900 members, Communications Manager Brandi Sims said. “We have grown in the last seven to eight months, adding about 100 members,” she said.
