Early voting site changes for November election

Body

From staff reports The early-voting site for the general election in November has changed, according to a news release from the Comanche County Election Board.

Early voting will be available from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Oct. 30-31, 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Nov. 1, and 8 a.m. until p.m. Nov. 2 at the Great Plains Fairgrounds Annex Building, 920 W. Sheridan Road in Lawton. There will be no advance voting at the Comanche County Courthouse for this election only.

The annex building is a much larger area than the Comanche County Election Board office at the courthouse, Election Board Secretary Amy Sims said in a Sept. 27 email to a Southwest Ledger reporter.

“In 2020, we processed over 3,000 voters during early voting,” she said. “Wait time was approximately 2 hours.”

Sims said the Oklahoma State Election Board has made it possible to have additional precinct officials, which will make processing voters much faster and reduce the wait for voters.

Polls on Election Day will be at voters’ normal polling places.
