MEDICINE PARK — Comanche County-Lawton Emergency Management, in partnership with CI International, will host a free public wildfire preparedness meeting at 6 p.m. July 28 at the Medicine Park Event Center, 19001 State Highway 49 in Medicine Park.
The interactive meeting is designed for anyone who wants to better protect their home, property, land and community before wildfire threatens the area, Emergency Management officials said in a news release.
“This is about protecting more than houses,” officials said. “It is about protecting neighborhoods, local businesses, tourism, natural areas and the way of life people love out here. The time to prepare is before there is smoke in the air.”
Attendees will learn practical steps they can take now, including how to make homes more likely to survive a wildfire while keeping the beauty of the area; simple projects that can make a big difference; and how neighborhoods can work together to reduce wildfire risk. Fire experts and wildfire specialists will be available to answer questions, listen to concerns and connect residents with helpful resources.
