LAWTON – Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma will discuss Fair Housing (housing discrimination), the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, and the Oklahoma Residential Landlord and Tenant Act, during a lecture at the Lawton Public Library on June 24, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Fair housing law protects certain groups of people from discrimination in housing, including:

• Protection from discriminatory treatment in the purchase or sale of your home.

• Protection from different terms, conditions, and services provided by banks and loan servicers.

• Protections from predatory practices.

This lecture is part of an effort to address housing-related issues for active-duty soldiers and veterans as well as all Oklahoma residents, city officials said.

Fair housing applies to all servicemembers and their families. These laws impact everyone from the Commanders, 1SGs and CFAs down to those who have just entered, as well as civilians and residents of Oklahoma and the United States.

Because of limited seating, anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP by contacting Mickey Hinds at mickey.hinds@laok.org or by calling (918) 417-2943.

The event will be hosted by Fort Sill’s Housing Services Office and the Lawton library, which is located at 110 SW 4th Street.
