LAWTON – The FISTA Development Trust Authority hired a company Thursday to replace a leaking gas line in Central Plaza.
The board accepted a bid from Andy’s Plumbing, Heat and Air to put in a new gas line for Suite 82 at Central Plaza, where the old El Chico restaurant was located. Andy’s estimated the work would cost $9,500.
FISTA will authorize payment once the work is finished and inspected.
The bid does not include penetrating the roof to place the new line, said FISTA Chairman Clarence Fortney
“The existing gas line comes basically through the concrete and up through the floor,” he said. “And with the leak, the means to replace this is, the line will actually be run exterior.”
Andy’s will run the new gas line into a maintenance closet, up through the roof and over to Suite 82, according to bid documents. The new line will be dropped into the kitchen where the old line was located, and it will be clamped to the wall. Blocks will be placed under the line on the roof.
A roofer will need to seal the roof once the line is in place.
Fortney said he had consulted two roofing companies about the cost of penetrating the roof and sealing it, and both companies estimated that part of the project would cost $500.
