Apparently the Lawton City Council is tired of hearing complaints about utility payments.
The council has received “feedback” about extended wait times customers have experienced at both the indoor service counters and the drive-through payment kiosk at the northwest corner of the City Hall parking lot, 212 SW Ninth St.
“These delays have created challenges for residents attempting to make timely payments and receive account assistance,” Mayor Stan Booker noted.
Concerns also have been raised about removal of the payment drop box that previously was located in front of City Hall. Last month, and again last week, Susanna Hunter told the council about the difficulties she has encountered in paying her shortterm rental taxes to the city.
The Utility Services Department is expected to consider restoration of a secure payment drop box at City Hall and to explore other options to “improve accessibility and operational efficiency.”
