July 4th in Chickasha to be celebrated at Shannon Springs Park

From staff reports CHICKASHA – Independence Day will be celebrated Friday at Shannon Springs Park.

Because of a partnership between the City of Chickasha and the YMCA, the swimming pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free for children ages 15 and under; for individuals 16 and older, the admission fee will be $5. There is a maximum capacity of 75. Kade’s Kones will be serving cool treats inside the pool area.

Chickasha Lions Club will sponsor a cornhole tournament. A sign-up table will be located near the public pool. The contest will be single elimination style, and local gift cards will be awarded to the top six teams.

From 4 to 6 p.m. the celebration ramps up with free games, a patriotic costume contest, and free watermelon – all provided by City staff.

Vendors are welcome.

Food trucks will set up in the pool parking lot.

The Parade of Stars & Handlebars is scheduled for 6 p.m. Participants will start at 12th and Montana and ride to the Ninth Street entrance. Riders may decorate their bikes, scooters, golf carts, motorcycles, or ATVs and ride alongside Cycle Santa.

The fee will be $10 per person or household, $25 per group or club. Proceeds will be donated to some local organization. Sign up in advance at the Chamber of Commerce website or in person prior to the parade.

The Southern Sailor Band (featuring Mitch Williams) will provide entertainment at the amphitheater stage, performing from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and again from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

The night will conclude with a fireworks show, sponsored by local businesses.
