LAWTON – Lawton residents who want to take fallen trees and branches to the city landfill may dump the debris free of charge through Nov. 7.

Those who want to use this service will need a current ID and a water bill in which the name or address match, the city said in a news release. The service is only available for trees and branches.

Officials are also working on scheduling a citywide tree cleanup, which may begin late next week. Fallen trees and branches will be collected curbside for residents during the cleanup, and there will be a designated drop-off site for that type of debris.

Details of the cleanup, including collection dates and the drop-off site, are still being finalized, the city said. That is due to state and federal requirements for coordinating similar projects due to natural disasters.

Keep in mind that the citywide cleanup will only apply to trees and branches. When curbside collection begins, the city will announce requirements for cutting and sizing loads.

The city will release more information as it becomes available.
