LAWTON – Angel Melvin began her business Light Alive Marketing as a one-woman show in 2012. Nine years later, she employs a full staff with clients coast to coast.

Life is pretty good for Melvin and her employees, and it got better last Saturday night when Light Alive was presented with the Business of the Year award from the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce.

“This was a big surprise,” Light Alive Chief Executive Officer and owner Melvin said. “I had no idea it was coming. We were honored to be considered for this award. It’s good to see our work has had an impact and worthy of this award is pretty good.”

Receiving the Business of the Year award was a “nice encouragement” for Light Alive and its employees, she said.

Melvin started her business as a freelance multimedia designer who focused on websites and graphic design. Now, those responsibilities are shared by a plethora of team members.

“I love my business, our team and our clients and my hobby has become my profession,” Melvin said on the company’s website. “On a daily basis, I work very closely with my team, but I also deal with a lot of client matters. I handle contracts, proposals and most of the onboarding process, but I also work with clients on their ongoing projects, making sure that they are receiving the best services from our company.”

Most of Light Alive’s clients are from southwestern Oklahoma, but there are some overseas clients and several others on the East Coast and West Coast.

‘We do work hard and try to help these businesses,” Melvin said. “This team is devoted to our clients and the work they need done.”

Light Alive’s main lines of service are media design and production and strategic marketing plans that involve social media, photography, videography, branding and graphic design, Melvin said. Other work includes search engine optimization, public relations management and consulting.

“Our goal is to create custom designs that our clients love,” Melvin said on the company’s website. “We are not a fan of cookie-cutter-work. Every job is taken seriously and approached individually, and the style will match the purpose.”

The company’s office is located at 1011 SW B Avenue, Suites 160 and 190. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Fridays by appointment only.
