WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas recently joined Reps. Tracey Mann, R-Kan.; Jim Langevin, D-R.I.; and 76 cosponsors in introducing House Resolution 150, celebrating National FFA Week.

“The National FFA Organization has deep roots in Oklahoma,” Lucas, R-Okla., said in a press release. “Across the country, National FFA makes a tremendous difference in the lives of our students, further strengthening their agricultural education while investing in their leadership potential and personal growth.

“As we celebrate National FFA Week, I’m proud to recognize the next generation of agricultural leaders, scientists, innovators, agri-businessmen and women, and the teachers and mentors who cultivate their future successes.”

Mann said: “As a past chapter FFA officer from Quinter, Kansas, I am honored to introduce this resolution to celebrate National FFA Week. As the average age of the American farmer continues to grow, it is important we invest in the next generation of food and agriculture. In Kansas, FFA members in 220 chapters will be our future farmers, ranchers, engineers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, scientists, communicators and business people.”

In addition to designating Feb. 20-27 as National FFA Week, the resolution recognized the national organization’s role in providing educational and career opportunities to students. The resolution also celebrated more than 50 years of National FFA alumni and supporters, with more than 8 million alumni nationwide.
