HOBART – U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas recently visited Hobart, where he met with Hobart Chamber of Commerce officials, and Elkview General Hospital.

Lucas and Chamber officials discussed legislative priorities and community development projects, along with other topics, according to a news release from Lu- cas’ office.

Lucas always enjoys talking with community leaders across Oklahoma’s Third District, which includes the Hobart Chamber, he said.

“Investing in our communities and ensuring our businesses have the necessary resources to grow is important, especially as we safely and responsibly reopen our local economies moving forward from the coronavirus,” he said. “I thank the Hobart Chamber of Commerce for the visit and look forward to hearing more good news coming from the community.”

Lucas also visited Elkview General Hospital, where he spoke with hospital leaders and doctors about their work caring for the community during the pandemic.

“For nearly 50 years, Elkview General Hospital has provided outstanding care to Hobart, Kiowa County and the surrounding communities,” Lucas said. “Oklahoma’s rural hospitals have been on the front lines since day one of the pandemic,

and I commend everyone at Elkview General Hospital – and every hospital across Oklahoma – for their dedication to keeping our families, neighbors and communities healthy.”

Through the Kiowa County Hospital Authority, the hospital recently received a $3.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Provider Relief Fund, according to the news release. The fund supports health care facilities, providers, employees and patients during the pandemic.
