ELGIN - Elgin and surrounding communities will soon have greater access to health care with a new 11,000-square-foot medical complex planned by Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma.
The new complex, expected to open late 2027, will offer a broad range of health care services, including - primary care, urgent care, laboratory services, behavioral health, diagnostic imaging and pharmaceutical services.
“This groundbreaking represents more than the beginning of a construction project,” said Sean McAvoy, executive director of Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma, Lawton Community Health Center Clinics. “This clinic represents our continued commitment to quality health care for the people of Elgin and the surrounding communities. We are proud to invest in and expand access to critical healthcare services that meet the needs of this growing area.”
The project is made possible through support from the City of Elgin and the Elgin Community Development Authority.
“We are grateful for the collaboration that has made this project possible,” McAvoy said. “We look forward to serving patients and families through these expanded health care services.”
“This announcement and coming construction is the work of many people,” said Elgin Mayor JJ Francais.
“I want to personally thank Sean McAvoy and Brent Smith (MHS’ former CEO) for their leadership through this process. Since taking office in 2021, it has been a goal of mine to see the land along Interstate 44 developed. The hope was that it would be a mix of retail, restaurants and others providing jobs, economic development and more for the community,” Francais said.
“When completed, this clinic will be a tremendous asset to our community,” he added. “It’s more than a building - it truly is the full package. Curb appeal, jobs, economic activity and most importantly, healthier outcomes for our residents.”
Memorial Health System plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new complex. Additional details, including the time and location, will be announced as plans are finalized.
