Oklahoma Rep. Kevin Hern addresses guests at the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce on Thursday. Last week, Hern announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate and shared his goals and vision for the future during a meet-and-greet. Hern also expressed his support for earmarks. He said, in regards to his past record, earmarks depended on each district. Hern said his predecessor, Jim Bridenstine, was not in favor of earmarks. Hern said, “times are changing” and he expects most members of Congress will submit requests in coming years. He also said Oklahoma Congressman Tom Cole, R-04, has been fair when it comes to earmarks, and that roughly 70% of all earmarks go to Republicans.
