From staff reports The Lawton Metropolitan Planning Organization invites public participation in reviewing and commenting on its Fiscal Year 2026 Unified Planning Work Program.
The UPWP outlines the transportation planning activities to be undertaken in the Lawton metropolitan area, including Comanche County, during the upcoming fiscal year.
“We plan for the future of all types of transportation: federally funded roads (not locally funded streets), transit, sidewalks, and bike paths,” Caitlin Gatlin, the city’s communications manager, told Southwest Ledger. “The FY26 UPWP includes all of these,” she said.
“We also work with Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport; however they plan their future separately.”
Community members are encouraged to provide feedback on the draft Unified Planning Work Program. Comments can be submitted via email to LMPO@lawtonok.gov or by calling (580) 581-3375. All input will be considered before finalizing the document.
A public hearing will be held during the LMPO Transportation Policy Board meeting scheduled for 11 a.m. June 17 in the Third Floor Conference Room of Lawton’s City Hall.
The draft FY2026 UPWP is available for review on the LMPO website at https://www.lawtonmpo.org/.
