Lawton residents will have an opportunity to provide input on how federal Community Development Block Grant funding should be distributed among local nonprofit organizations that provide critical community services.
Seven public service organizations have applied to receive a portion of $112,332 in available CDBG funding. Applications have been reviewed and ranked based on U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines. As part of the funding process, the City of Lawton is seeking public input before final funding allocations are considered.
Residents are encouraged to attend either of the following public hearings to learn more about the funding recommendations and provide comments:
•City Planning Commission public hearing Aug. 27 at 1:30 p.m. in Wayne Gilley Auditorium, City Hall, 212 SW 9th.
•City Council public hearing Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. in Wayne Gilley Auditorium, City Hall, 212 SW 9th.
The council will consider the proposed funding allocations for each qualifying public service organization after the public hearing.
Community Development Block Grant funding supports eligible public service programs that improve the quality of life for Lawton residents, particularly low- and moderateincome households. Public participation helps ensure funding decisions reflect the needs and priorities of the community.
