From staff reports CHICKASHA – The “Onward Chickasha” team has launched a new series of community engagement activities.
“Over the past several months we have gathered valuable input from stakeholders, residents and technical experts,” said Shae Mortimer, the city’s marketing and civic engagement manager. “These inputs have been carefully reviewed and organized into a set of policies and recommendations by planning topic.
“We will publish weekly engagement activities on OnwardChickasha.org for review,” she said. “Residents are invited to provide feedback on the policy framework for each of the seven planning topics.”
A new section will be available each week for comment. The first planning topic was land use, which was opened for discussion July 29 through Aug. 4. Subsequent topics will be:
• Infrastructure and Public Services: Aug. 5 - 11.
• Transportation & Mobility: Aug. 12 - 18.
• Housing and Neighborhoods: Aug. 19 - 25.
• Economy and Downtown: Aug. 26 – Sept. 1.
• Parks and Recreation: Sept. 9 – 15.
• Community Character and Quality of Life: Sept. 16 – 22.
The policy framework outlines the goals, objectives, and strategies needed to implement the community’s vision for Chickasha through the year 2050, Mortimer said.
“We need your input to ensure we have correctly understood and applied your feedback to the Comprehensive Plan’s recommendations. This is a critical opportunity for you to influence the Onward Chickasha Comprehensive Plan as we approach the final stages of its development.”
