From staff reports The U.S. saw a decline of another three oil and gas rigs over the past week, according to the most recent Baker Hughes rig count.
Oklahoma joined the list of states where there were declines in rig numbers. The state count declined by one to 52 rigs. A year ago, Oklahoma’s rig count was 42.
Nationally, the count fell to 563 and the decline included a loss of four oil rigs, leaving 461 active in the oil-producing states. The gas rig count increased by one to 99 while the number of miscellaneous rigs was unchanged at three.
The offshore count increased by two to 13 in the past week but the total is still nine below last year’s total.
In the past year, the rig loss totaled 37 from the 600 rigs reported one year ago. The decline included 35 oil rigs, one gas rig and one miscellaneous rig.
The count for Texas was unchanged over the past week with a total of 266 rigs. New Mexico recorded a loss of one to 91 rigs and North Dakota was unchanged at 30 rigs. Louisiana had the same count of 30 with no change.
Colorado remained at eight. The Red Top Rig Report inWichita indicated the count in Kansas fell three to 16 rigs over the past week. Utah’s count was unchanged at 11 and Ohio recorded a loss of one to 11 rigs. Pennsylvania’s total grew by one to 18 rigs while West Virginia dropped one to seven rigsWyoming was unchanged at 21. Alaska remained at 10 rigs and California continued with six rigs.
