From staff reports Oklahoma’s oil and gas rig count fell by one to 42 active rigs this past week, based on the latest Rig Count by Baker Hughes Co. released Friday.
A year ago, the Sooner State had 36 active oil and gas rigs. The new report indicated the total of oil and gas rigs across the U.S. was unchanged at 585. It included a loss of one oil rigs, leaving 479. The number of gas rigs increased one to 102 while the number of so-called miscellaneous rigs was unchanged at four.
The nation’s rig count is 33 fewer than the 618 reported a year ago, including a decline of 17 oil and 16 gas rigs while the number of miscellaneous rigs was unchanged.
Texas tops the list with 281 rigs – a drop of two from the previous report. North Dakota added one to reach 34 while New Mexico was unchanged at 100 rigs. Louisiana also remained at 36 rigs.
The Red Top Rig Report showed Kansas added four to reach 33 rigs. Colorado saw no change with 12 rigs and Ohio stayed at 10. Pennsylvania added a rig for a total of 13. Utah’s count grew by one to 12 and West Virginia was unchanged at 10. Wyoming continued with a count of 17 rigs.
