Sail shades were installed last week at the playground in Lawton’s Elmer Thomas Park. The shades will offer protection from the sun,
making the playground more comfortable for children and families.
In a related matter, the City of Lawton is installing security cameras in municipal parks. Over the next two months 25 cameras will be installed in Elmer Thomas Park, Greer Park, Patriot Pavilion, 38th Ball Field, Miracle Field, and Skate Park. The cameras, costing approximately $49,000 financed with 2019 CIP funds, will serve as a deterrent to criminal activity, assist in the resolution of incidents, and provide peace of mind to visitors.
