OKLAHOMA CITY – Greg McCortney was picked to serve as the new Senate Health and Human Services chairman.
McCortney, R-Ada, will replace Sen. Jason Smalley, who is set to resign Jan. 31.
“With a new legislative session drawing upon us, I am making these changes so the Senate can seamlessly move forward with our role in the legislative process,” said Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat.
Other new appointments:
• Sen. Paul Rosino, R-Oklaho- ma City, HHS committee vice chair;
• Sen. Darcy Jech, R-King- fisher, Senate Rules Committee chair;
• Sen. Brenda Stanley, R-Midwest City, Senate Education Committee;
• Sen. Lonnie Paxton, R-Tuttle, as an assistant floor leader.
Treat said Republicans will hold an election in the coming days to select a new caucus chair.
