Sims named VP of Communications and Membership

LAWTON – Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce recently named Brandi Sims as its new Vice President of Communications and Membership.

As part of the executive team, Sims will lead marketing and membership activities supporting the strategic and creative direction of the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber, bringing new value-added benefits to the market, including an increased promotion of tourism, the Chamber announced.

“I am honored to accept the Brandi promotion of VP Sims of Communications & Membership for the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce,” said Sims. “Over the last 18 months, I have been a part of tremendous growth at the Chamber as well as in the community which has led to numerous achievements and recognition from local to national levels. In assuming this role, I plan to continue these efforts in support of our local businesses by applying strategic consumer methods to demonstrate true value-added services available through Chamber membership. Building valuable relationships and supporting our community in any way possible is an important goal of mine which I intend to fulfill as the new VP of Communications & Membership for the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce.”

In addition to her essential tasks, Sims exhibited leadership, creativity, and initiative by sharing safety information, Small Business Administration resources, and virtual networking opportunities to aid in the relief for the unprecedented coronavirus shutdown.

“Brandi has played an integral role in reintroducing our brand image and strengthening our relationships with industry partners that now endorse our organization,” said interim President and CEO Dr. Sylvia Burgess. “She is an important part of our success and our future. As vice president, Brandi will continue to build the Chamber’s relationships with our valued membership affiliates and partner associations, as well as oversee the development and implementation of our marketing initiatives.”

Sims, formerly a Senior Publicist for a Virginia-based public relations agency specializing in professional athletes, celebrity entertainment, and small to midsize businesses before joining the Chamber’s team in 2018.

The Chamber saw a 56% increase in brand awareness and social engagement, creating a lead in marketing collateral and enhanced internal communications which contributed to the Chamber’s recent Five- Star accreditation status from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Sims earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Cameron University and Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Public Relations from Liberty University.
