DUNCAN — U.S. Sen. Markwayne Mullin will be the keynote speaker at the 19th annual Stephens County Fish Fry here on May 20.

“This is the largest gathering of Republicans in Oklahoma, other than the State Convention,” said Leon Farris, chairman of the county party. “They come to eat fish, fellowship with other Republicans and support the conservative cause.”

A reception is scheduled at 5 p.m., the fish fry at 6 p.m., at the Stephens County Fairgrounds. The event is staffed by local volunteers.

“We have seating for about 800 people in the event center,” Farris said. “We can feed that many people in about 30 to 45 minutes with our system of fresh fried fish and side items.”

Mullin’s comments will be broadcast to the audience via large-screen video and a professional sound system.

Donated items will be auctioned, and proceeds from the fish fry will help finance an election headquarters each year, provide infrastructure for local candidates, and send young people to the Patriot Academy. “It is a family event, and those in attendance get to meet many Oklahoma elected officials in person,” Farris said.

Tables and individual tickets for the event are available. Table sponsors will have access to an early meet-and-greet reception with Sen. Mullin and others.

For more information and/or to reserve tickets, contact Farris at (580) 656-7951.
