An iconic Goodyear airship, Wingfoot Three, made a stopover visit in Lawton last week on a cross-country journey from its home base in Carson (Los Angeles), Calif., to Goodyear's Akron, Ohio, headquarters. Today, Goodyear has three airships in the United States and one in Europe. Wingfoot Three is its newest addition and was christened in 2018. The Goodyear- Lawton plant celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2019. Since its first began production in February 1979, the plant has produced more than 700 million consumer tires for original equipment and replacement tire markets around the world.
