ANADARKO – A former Apache emergency medical technician who more than two years ago was named in 76 felony charges accusing him of sexually molesting three children is in the Caddo County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond.
Timothy Darien Clauson, 62, who listed his address as Hammond, Oregon, was incarcerated in the Beaver State after his conviction there on charges related to the sexual abuse of his five children during their childhoods.
Clauson pleaded guilty in Clatsop County Circuit Court to sexual abuse in the first and second degrees, unlawful penetration in the first degree, and using a child in a display of sexually explicit content. He was sentenced Aug. 1 to 12 years in prison and 20 years of probation.
The abuse spanned 20 years. Prosecutor Dawn Buzzard said Clauson attempted to normalize the abuse throughout the children’s lives and created a constant environment of fear and obedience in their home.
According to a reporter with The Daily Astorian newspaper, Buzzard said that several of the children, who were homeschooled, did not know their siblings were also being sexually abused until the investigation was opened.
“The damage that comes from the abuse itself is one thing,” Judge Dawn McIntosh said. “But the damage that comes from the abuse having happened at the hands of a person that was supposed to love and protect and raise them, a person who was supposed to guide them in their faith, is significant. It’s even worse.”
Clauson moved from Apache to Oregon in 2022 and brought his three youngest children with him. Soon after, one of them reached out to her mother to tell her about the abuse and said that it had been going on for as long as she could remember.
In Caddo County, Clauson was charged on Sept. 15, 2022, with 64 counts of child sexual abuse, 10 counts of rape by instrumentation, and two counts of first-degree rape. The crimes are alleged to have occurred between July 1, 2014, and March 1, 2020. The three victims identified in court records as “H.C.,” “S.C.” and “R.C.” all were under the age of 16 at the time of the alleged abuse.
The charges read like a script from a hard-core pornography film.
Clauson was booked into the Caddo County Jail on Nov. 21, 2024. He waived a preliminary hearing on Dec. 11, his arraignment is set for Jan. 8 and his trial is scheduled for Feb. 3.
