Tulsa attorney Katrina Lucas sued Westwin Elements for breach of an employment contract.
Lucas and Westwin inked a sixmonth employment agreement on Oct. 10, 2022, that w as to extend to April 10, 2023, with the po tential for a one-year renewal.
Under the agreement, Lucas received an “annual base salary of $185,000 with “the opportunity for an annual bonus, equity awards, fringe benefits and perquisites, employee benefits, vacation and paid time off…” However, on March 27, 2023, Westwin founder KaLeigh Long “orally informed” Lucas that she was fired. The termination was “without good cause, triggering certain benefits due upon a termination without cause or even with a ‘good reason’,” Lucas claims.
Westwin responded that Lucas was “wast[ing] this Court’s time with her latest, facially frivolous filing” that was “riddled with too many falsehoods for Westwin to specifically address and rebut.”
The case is still pending in Tulsa County District Court. Lucas’ motion to extend “discovery” in the case to June 30 was granted March 6. However, attorneys for both parties were ordered by the court “to ‘reduce the temperature’ and attempt to cooperate.”
