UPS will increase its holiday surcharges for 2026 as the company prepares for a sharp rise in package volume during the peak shipping season.
The added fees begin as early as Sept. 27 and will remain in effect through Jan. 16, 2027. Surcharges for packages requiring additional handling will range from $8.75 to $11.90, while large-package fees will range from $96.25 to $117.50. Packages exceeding maximum limits could face charges of $530 to $590.
Beginning Oct. 25, UPS will also add demand surcharges to Air, Ground Residential and Ground Saver packages. Those fees will range from 50 cents to $9.35 per package, depending on the service and customer shipping volume.
Many of the charges will reach their highest levels between Nov. 22 and Dec. 26, when holiday shipping demand typically peaks.
The 2026 handling and package-size fees are about 6% to 10% higher than last year, while some service-level fees increased about 22% to 25%, according to ShipScience.
UPS CEO Carol Tomé said during a July earnings call that the company expects U.S. package volume to increase about 24% from the third to fourth quarter, similar to the jump UPS experienced in 2025.
