Council discusses bridges, obnoxious vendors

LAWTON – A new municipal law will enable the City of Lawton to penalize obnoxious door-to-door sales people.City staff “has received complaints about door-to-door vendors knocking on doors where ‘no soliciting’ signs are clearly posted,” Community Services Director Charlotte Brown said.

LAWTON – State lawmakers, local leaders and FISTA Development Trust Authority officials flocked to the FISTA Innovation Park recently to celebrate the next phase in the business hub’s development.The authority hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Nov.

Remodeled Scout Service Center opens for business

LAWTON – After being closed for a year, the Laura Fields Scout Service Center and Scout Shop is open for business again.Boy Scouts, Scouting leaders and local off icials flocked to the service center at 620 Cache Road in Lawton recently to celebrate the grand reopening of the remodeled building.

LAWTON – A traffic study on Gore Boulevard will start after traffic is “back to normal on the overpass across Interstate 44,” where a pedestrian bridge was installed last week, Public Works Director Michael Watrous reported.

40 streets repaired this year; 40-80 more in ’25

LAWTON – Forty city streets have already received an asphalt mill-and-overlay, or are expected to by Thanksgiving.In addition, 24 streets are slated for similar attention early next year.

Chickasha to spend $500K to rehab pool, splash pad

CHICKASHA – The City Council voted to spend more than half a million dollars to renovate the swimming pool and the splash pad in Shannon Springs Park.The pool was constructed in 1985, records show.
