Nation’s rig count takes a fall while Oklahoma remains steady

A dollar-a-barrel jump in crude oil prices on Thursday came aftr OPEC+ indicated it would continue with production cuts. But adding to the increase were continued attacks on Russia’s oil refineries and a drop in the U.S. rig count. It also led to gains for Oklahoma energy stocks.

Oklahoma’s oil, gas rig numbers hold steady

As Okahoma’s rig count held steady in the past week,the number of active oil and gas rigs across the U.S. dropped by 3 to 621, reported Baker Hughes Co. in a release on Thursday. Oklahoma remained steady at 44 rigs but was still below the 59 reported by Baker Hughes a year ago.

Oklahoma among top 10 for renewable energy production

A new study finds that Oklahoma is one of the top 20 states in the U.S. for its production of renewable energy. The state ranks number 6 in the U.S., largely because of the wind power and wind farms that exist. The ranking is based on 2022 figures showing Oklahoma produced 39.

Gains in crude stockpile recorded at Cushing

The amount of crude oil in storage at the Cushing Hub in northern Oklahoma and across the U.S. increased in the past week, according to a new report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Cushing’s oil stocks rose 2.1 million barrell from 31.4 million on March 15 to 33.
