City seeks candidates for Ward 6 seat

Contract awarded to demolish decrepit structures at lake

CHICKASHA — Washita Construction and Renovation recently was awarded a $46,996 contract to demolish 11 dilapidated and abandoned structures at Lake Chickasha. The experienced local company was the second-lowest of four bidders for the work.

City opens disposal site for discarded tree limbs

CHICKASHA — Just in time for spring improvement projects, the city has established a location where residents can dispose of tree limbs. The site is just south of Public Works at 502 N. Genevieve and will be open each Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Unsheltered homelessness in U.S. increased last year

OKLAHOMA CITY — The number of unsheltered homeless Americans has grown, according to a recent report from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Nationwide, an estimated 582,000 people were considered homeless last year; that constituted approximately 18 per 10,000 people, HUD said.
