City seeking authors for upcoming festival

LAWTON – The Lawton Farmers Market, the Lawton Public Library and the Arts and Humanities Division will host the Books & Brew Author Festival to showcase local authors and their work. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Lawton Farmers Market, 77 SW 4th St.

Economy behaving in odd manner

Stitt, area officials join Lawton Rangers at 84th annual PRCA rodeo

LAWTON — Gov. Kevin Stitt sat high in the saddle Saturday as he joined the grand entrance during the final night of the 84th Lawton Rangers PRCA rodeo, showing off his cowboy skills. Earlier in the evening, Stitt talked about the advantages of the rodeo life and the values cowboys exhibit.

Renewable power growing

Renewable power will continue to grow over the next couple of years as utilities add more solar and wind power. The U.S. Energy Information Administration predicts that renewable energy will account for a larger share of the nation’s electricity over time.
