ELGIN – When it comes to economic development, Comanche County is falling behind other counties, said a candidate for the District 1 seat on the Comanche County Board of Commissioners. “Economic development is not up to par,” Elgin resident John O’Brien said in a June 13 interview.

Turner seeking seventh term on county commission

LAWTON – County government has changed dramatically in the 24 years since Comanche County Commissioner Gail Turner began his service on the commission, he said. “Our monies haven’t changed much, but our expenses have changed a whole lot,” he said in a June 13 interview.

Bailey ramps, Walters plaza will go cashless in July

OKLAHOMA CITY – The trio of mainline toll plazas on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike between Lawton and Oklahoma City/Norman converted to totally cashless tolling on June 21, but four ramps along that route won’t convert until early July.

Early voting starts Thursday

LAWTON – Eligible voters who want to vote early in the June 28 primary election may receive and cast a ballot from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Comanche County Courthouse.
