HJR 1027 would kill initiative petitions in Oklahoma

The initiative petition is under attack in Oklahoma. House Joint Resolution #1027 (HJR 1027) passed the House on Tuesday evening at 6:05 pm. The vote was 66-30 with four members not voting. All but five of the yea votes were Republican. All Democrats voted nay.

OKLAHOMA CITY - State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax recently issued a warning to Oklahomans to beware of “fake” voter registration applications. Counties around the state have received several invalid voter registration applications that were generated from a website called Register2Vote.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control announced that Oklahoma will receive $6.92 million to help fight the coronavirus pandemic. As of Sunday, Oklahoma had seven cases of coronavirus, either presumptive positive or confirmed positive by the CDC.

If the goal is confusion, it has been attained. Shortly after taking office, Governor Stitt announced that he is working with a wide range of Oklahomans to develop an Oklahoma plan for better health care.

Riverwind Casino at the edge of Norman has “significantly enhanced our cleaning and disinfecting, particularly in heavy traffic areas of our property.” In addition, the facilities “undergo thorough cleaning daily to protect against transmission of communicable disease, including the coronavirus.
