Powell hears bipartisan Senate support for Fed independence

WASHINGTON (AP) – Republican and Democratic senators voiced strong support for an independent Federal Reserve during a hearing with Fed Chair Jerome Powell, one day after President Donald Trump launched another attack directed at Powell on Twitter.

FREDERICK - A Frederick couple was awarded as Most Useful Citizens while another local resident was named Volunteer of the Year during an annual Frederick Chamber of Commerce banquet last month.

City pays six figures in attorney costs – at least – over foul language claim

Lawton has spent approximately $160,000, so far, in legal fees investigating and defending a tort claim against the city in reference to the former city attorney who is accused by six women of  “misconduct,” The Ledger has learned.

Bridge is closed while its replacement is being built

OKLAHOMA CITY – A crossing in rural southwestern Jackson County is closed while a replacement bridge is being built on a state highway. The bridge is on SH-6 southwest of Olustee and spans an unnamed creek 2.6 miles northeast of the junction of SH-34.
