Rig Report: More active oil, gas rig losses reported

From staff reports The nation’s number of oil and gas rigs actively in pursuit of more energy resources declined even more in the past week and Oklahoma followed suit, according to the latest Rig Count report from Baker Hughes Co.

LAWTON – Bobby Sorrells, the shop manager of Fort Sill’s Kwik Kar Auto Care, didn’t start out as a mechanic. A couple of decades back, he remodeled homes. Then he ventured into automotive maintenance.Today Sorrells manages Fort Sill’s Kwik Kar location.

Lawton City Council election set for Sept. 9

A nonpartisan primary election for Lawton City Council members for Wards 3, 4 and 5 is scheduled on Sept. 9. A general election, if necessary, will be held Nov. 18.Council members whose positions are up for election this year are Linda Chapman, Ward 3; George Gill, Ward 4; and Allan Hampton, Ward 5.

Chickasha Country Club purchase approved by CMA

CHICKASHA – The Municipal Authority closed last Friday on the $1.6 million purchase of the 70.5-acre Chickasha Golf and Country Club from Jimmy Crews of Ninnekah.The CMA Board of Trustees approved the purchase agreement on May 19.
