SW Okla. legislators get House panel assignments

OKLAHOMA CITY – Southwest Oklahoma legislators have been rewarded with important committee assignments and leadership roles in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Speaker Charles McCall created 30 committees and 10 appropriations subcommittees in the House. Southwest Oklahoma lawmakers are represented on 22 of those 40 panels.

The First Regular Session of the 58th Legislature starts in earnest at noon February 1.

Area legislators and their committee/subcommittee assignments include:

• Freshman Rep. Gerrid Kendrix, R-Altus: member, Business and Commerce, Government Modernization and Efficiency, and Judiciary-Criminal committees; General Government Subcommittee of Appropriations and Budget (A&B); member, Redistricting Committee and its Southwest Oklahoma Subcommittee.

• Rep. Rande Worthen, R-Lawton: chairman, Judiciary-Criminal Committee; member, Administrative Rules plus Elections and Ethics committees, and Judiciary Subcommittee of A&B; member, Redistricting Committee and its Southwest Oklahoma Subcommittee.

• Rep. Toni Hasenbeck, R-Elgin: vice-chair, Public Health Committee; member, Administrative Rules plus Higher Education and Career Tech committees, and Transportation Subcommittee of A&B; member, Redistricting Committee, and vice chair of its Southwest Oklahoma Subcommittee.

• Rep. Daniel Pae, R-Lawton: vice chairman, General Government Subcommittee of A&B; member, Government Modernization and Efficiency Committee and Technology Committee; vice chairman, Redistricting Committee, and member of its Southwest Oklahoma Subcommittee.

• Rep. Trey Caldwell, R-Lawton: vice chairman, Business and Commerce Committee; member, Agriculture and Rural Development plus Energy and Natural Resources committees, and Natural Resources and Regulatory Services Subcommittee of A&B; member, Redistricting Committee, and chairman of its Southwest Oklahoma Subcommittee.

• Rep. Brad Boles, R-Marlow: chairman, Energy and Natural Resources Committee; member, Common Education plus County and Municipal Government committees, and the Finance-Revenue and Taxation Subcommittee of A&B; member, Southwest Oklahoma Subcommittee of Redistricting.

• Rep. Marcus McEntire, R-Duncan: chairman, Health Subcommittee of A&B; member, Insurance, Appropriations and Budget, and Public Health committees; member, Redistricting Committee and its Southwest Oklahoma Subcommittee.

• Freshman Rep. Dick Lowe, R-Amber: vice chairman, Education Subcommittee of A&B; member, Agriculture and Rural Development, Common Education, plus Higher Education and Career Tech committees; member Redistricting Committee and its Southwest Oklahoma Subcommittee.
