W. Cache Creek bridge set for replacement

Body

This aged bridge over West Cache Creek has been placed on the “5-Year Plan” priority list for replacement, Comanche County Commissioner Alvin Cargill said. The bridge lies on old US-62 a short distance west of SH-115 and the western edge of Cache. The structure is 4011⁄2 feet long, two narrow lanes wide, and was built in the 1930s when Franklin Delano Roosevelt was President, Cargill said. The bridge is approximately 90 years old, “We’ve had some issues with it,” and it has been the scene of several wrecks over the years, the District 3 commissioner said. Construction of the new bridge is expected to be financed with funds from the Comanche Nation, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and Comanche County.
