OKLAHOMA CITY — Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt and U.S. Sen. James Lankford easily defeated their opponents in Tuesday’s Republican primary election.
Just about 30 minutes after the polls closed, the Associated Press called the race for both Stitt and Lankford. As of 7:30 p.m., Stitt was leading his closest opponent, Veterans Affairs Director Joe Kintsel by more than 50% of the vote. Early results showed Stitt with 26,702 and Kintsel with 6,489 votes.
In the race for the GOP nod for governor, Moira McCade had a total of 1,228 votes while Mark Sherwood had earned 5,418 votes.
In the race for Lankford’s seat, Lankford had more than 72% of the vote with 28,845 votes while Jackson Lahmeyer had 8,637 and the race’s third candidate, Joan Farr, had 2,332 votes.
Only about 3% of the precincts had reported their votes as of 7:30.
