Powers defeats Cargill in District 3 contest

    LAWTON — Josh Powers has unseated Comanche County Commissioner Alvin Cargill in the race for the District 3 seat on the commission.

    Powers captured 1,470 votes in Tuesday’s primary election, or 58.08% of the total, according to unofficial election results. Cargill finished with 1,061 votes, or 41.92% of the total.

    There were no Democratic contenders in the race, meaning Powers will claim the seat in January.
