LAWTON – Six Republican candidates will compete in August for the right to represent District 1 on the Comanche County Board of Commissioners.
The current interim commissioner, Trent Logan, will face challengers Hank Hasenbeck, Ryan John, Craig Tracht, Kevin T. Turpin and Chad Maguire in the Aug. 27 GOP primary election. No Democrats are seeking the seat, so whoever wins the primary election will claim the position.
The winner will complete the unexpired term of former Commissioner John O’Brien, who resigned from office in May as part of a plea agreement in a criminal case. O’Brien, whose 18-month jail sentence was suspended as part of the agreement, agreed that he would not seek an elected office again for 18 months.
Gov. Kevin Stitt recently appointed Logan to replace O’Brien on a temporary basis until the Aug. 27 election. Logan was sworn into office in early June.
