Lawton homebound citizens who are elderly and/ or disabled will continue to receive at least one hot meal on weekdays for another year.

The City Council renewed its agreement with Lawton Mobile Meals wherein at least 50 hot meals will be delivered to needy citizens five days each week during Fiscal Year 2024-25. The city will pay $43,348 for the service.

Mobile Meals “reported to us that they delivered more than 12,000 meals” in FY 2023-24, which ended June 30, City Clerk Donalynn Blazek-Scherler told Southwest Ledger. Recipients complete an application and Mobile Meals determines who is eligible for the service “based on age and disability,” she said.

Lawton Mobile Meals is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization that depends on donations and volunteers.
